LEARNING TO TEACHING

Every time we ask, which is our specific focus? How can we teach through the arts to all students?

1. CHECK UNDERSTANDINGS

• Ask your student´s ¿It is the clear?.
• If it’s clear, fine. If anyone says ‘No, can you explain that? Can you explain again?’
• If one of the other students can explain it.
• If nobody understands it, go through an example step by step together. They should get it then.
• If they still don’t get it, go through another example together.
• If the poor things are still lost either.

2. GUESSING ANSWER  

• The students know a lot more than they think they know - the posh term for this is ‘passive knowledge’.

• This basically means that somewhere in the past they have seen or heard this wor or phrase but they don’t remember it consciously.

3. TRANSLATING

• Refuse to give translations for new vocabulary yourself
• Encourage the students to guess the meaning of words they don’t know or to ask each otherfor help.
• Explain that you are a teacher, not an interpreter.
• Remind students that you are a teacher, not a dictionary.

4. LESSON PLANNING

• How much can small children reasonably be expected to learn in on lesson? Although children migh seem to have no trouble understanding and using the language being presented.
• This is why it is important to have a wide vanaty of activities 

 

5. SOON, CHANTS, RHYMES, AND MUSIC 

•      Song, chants and rhymes help children´s language development, and also their physical development when used in conjunction with dance and mime. 
•       The use of rhymes encourages children to explore the sounds of words and the use of imagery enriches their perception of the world and their ability to express what they feel.

6 6. ART AND CRAFT ACTIVITIES.

•      Art and craft activities are an important port of the pre-school curriculum and need to be a common feature in classes.
•       Children need both free and guided art and craft activities and it is important provide both
